Æther Weekly MapIssue 001Week ending Covering Aug 31 –

SPX closed at 7,719, sitting between the 7,650 floor and the 7,800 ceiling.

Sep 18 expiry. 68.6 points (0.89%) to the floor, 81.4 points (1.05%) to the ceiling. The outer walls on the whole ladder are 7,200 and 7,800. Exposure references, not price targets.

Corrected Sep 6, 5:15 PM ET: index levels re-read after a served-map defect was fixed; the earlier build had used a degraded read. Corrected 2026-09-08: the floor and ceiling now name the nearest levels either side of the close that carry real size on the front expiry, and print the distance to the close in points and percent. The earlier issue named the outer walls — the largest readings anywhere above and below the close — which put an SPX floor 6.7% away from a close whose own expected move was ±1.1%. The levels themselves are unchanged and were read from the same verified maps; what changed is which two of them this page names.

Every bar is one strike, sits at its own price and carries its own label, so nothing on this figure stands for a second reading of the same strike. Where two strikes sit closer together than the price axis can separate, the larger reading is the one drawn; 13 are drawn here, all on the same scale, so two lengths can be compared directly, and every one of them is listed as data below. The Traditional read publishes levels rather than a strike-by-strike ladder, so it is not a second lane in this figure. On its own Sep 18 expiry it reads titan wall 7,800, ceiling 7,800, floor 7,500; the comparison board below sets the two side by side.

SPX closed 1.04% below its Titan wall at 7,800. The SPX book into the Sep 18 expiry reads long-gamma, pinned. A move of roughly ±1.9% is priced into that expiry. Levels are where exposure sits. They are reference points, not forecasts, and nothing here says they will hold.

Index comparison board

Both readings for each index, on the front expiry each one resolved. Ceiling and floor are the nearest levels either side of the close that carry real size, inside a bounded reach band; the outer walls are the largest readings anywhere above and below it. A level shown with a percentage is one that did not clear the size gate: it is the largest reading in reach on that side, and the percentage is its size against that ladder’s dominant level. The same rule runs on both ladders, so the two readings differ only by what feeds them. On this issue the open-interest rows show their outer walls in the Ceiling and Floor columns: it was published before the rule changed and its record does not carry the strike ladder those levels were read from, so they are shown as published rather than re-derived. Every issue from the next one on carries the ladder and the rule on both readings.

The tilt is net divided by gross on a −100 to +100 rail. This week the two side-nets point in opposite directions — calls were net bought while puts were net sold — which pins the rail by construction. It says both sides leaned the same way; it is not a measure of how strongly.

Coverage
Five of the five sessions in the week are covered. Premium totals cover the minutes captured in each of those sessions; they are not certified complete-session totals.
Levels
The ceiling is the nearest level above the close that carries real size, and the floor the nearest one below it. Real size is a reading of at least 15% of the dominant level on that ladder, and “near” is bounded: 2.5% either side of the close on an index, 5% on a single name. Where nothing on a side clears that size inside the band, the largest reading in reach is named instead and said to be under the gate; where a side holds no level at all, the band is widened once and then it is a dash with its reason. The largest readings anywhere above and below the close are still carried, as the outer walls, and they are not the headline: on this issue they were — an SPX close of 7,718.60 was published as sitting between a 7,200 floor and a 7,800 ceiling, and 7,200 is 6.7% away on a card whose own expected move was ±1.1%. The same rule is applied to both readings, so the Æther read and the Traditional read differ only by what feeds them.
The week change
One basis at both ends: the last regular-hours close of the week against the last regular-hours close of the week before. The headline close on each row is the official closing print, which is why the two are sourced separately in the record file.
Market tide
Call premium minus put premium across every symbol captured, read on a five-level scale: calls dominant, calls leading, balanced, puts leading, puts dominant.
The week, in full
The week finished SPX +0.1%, SPY +0.1%, QQQ +0.3%, IWM +0.0%. SPY closed 0.88% below its ceiling at 777. The SPY book into next week is short-gamma, the state in which hedging tends to extend movement rather than absorb it. A move of roughly ±1.1% is priced into the front weekly. Across the 5 sessions covered the market tide read calls dominant, net $553.2M. Volatility closed the week at 14.53. The next session opens .

02Notable flow this week

Only repeated, size-confirmed positioning reaches this table. The three tests are applied in this order, and every ticker that failed one of them is named underneath with the test it failed.

  1. 01Intentqualifying ask-side prints, deduplicated by contract
  2. 02Repetitionrecurring hits and at least 3 consecutive flagged sessions
  3. 03Baselineweekly net premium at least 3× its prior four-week average
The exact thresholds and exclusions
01 Intent
Ask-side prints of at least $25,000, collapsed per contract per second so one order sliced into many prints counts once. Multi-leg and spread legs are excluded, and the row only survives if open interest on that exact contract rose the next morning.
02 Repetition
At least three hits spanning at least thirty minutes on the same contract makes a flagged session; the row needs at least 3 flagged sessions in a row.
03 Baseline
The week's net premium must run at least 3 times the ticker's own average week over the prior four weeks. Every ticker is measured against itself, never against the market.

Qualified

Ranked by the size of the week’s net premium. Direction is the sign of that premium.

Not qualified

  • Below the baseline threshold. Cleared intent and repetition; the week was not unusual enough against the ticker’s own four-week average to clear the third test. SNDK 2.6× · AAPL 2.1× · SPX 1.4× · SPXW 0.9× · NVDA 0.9×
  • Baseline unavailable — not qualified. Cleared intent and repetition, but have no baseline of their own to be measured against, so the third test could not run. Not a near miss and not a pass. QQQ · SPY

These are listed because a test that only ever shows what passed is not a test.

What this is. The held-out evaluation did not establish directional predictive value. These are recurring prints, not trade signals.

How section 02 is measured
Scope

The predictive study
Descriptive tally of repeated large ask-side prints. Pre-registered held-out study: no directional edge vs matched single-hit controls; shown as a watch-item, never a score input.
Ranking
Qualified rows are ordered by the size of the week’s net premium. The baseline multiple is the week against that ticker’s own average week over the prior four weeks — every ticker is measured against itself, never against the market.

Every sector on the board finished the week majority call-side, so this column separates less than it usually does. The ordering still holds; the level does not say much on a week the whole tape leaned one way.

Rotation read, one session. Momentum accelerated into Technology, Real Estate, Industrials and out of Basic Materials, Consumer Defensive, Communication Services on . That is a single session sitting beside a five-session table, which is why it is shown separately and not blended into it.

The heart of the issue

04Focus list

Setups whose expiry still sits ahead of the week just closed, and whose closing print still sits between the invalidation and the target — a ladder price has already run past is stale, not a setup. Each card carries the level that triggers it, the level it aims at, and the level that ends it. The invalidation is printed loudest because it is the line where the read stops fitting.

Dropped as stale. One setup left the list because the closing print no longer sits between its own invalidation and its own target: BE closed 252.87 against a 207.5–215 ladder. Naming them is the point — a list that quietly deletes its stale rows is not a record.

How the focus list is selected

The board scanned 7 candidates and kept those above a confidence floor of 0.72; 7 of those carry an expiry past the week just closed. The cards are ordered by that confidence, highest first. Confidence is the board’s own score for the setup, not a probability.

The Titan column is the largest level for each name — gold marks the Titan, never a direction.

On this issue the Ceiling and Floor columns above are the outer walls — the largest readings anywhere above and below each close. The rule that names the nearest levels carrying real size applies to the index reads on this page and to every name here from the next issue on.

Plain-English mechanics

06How to read this page

Level

A strike where a meaningful amount of exposure sits. Levels are where price tends to react; they are reference points, never destinations.

Titan level

The single strike carrying the largest reading on the board for that expiry. It is tagged in gold on the field above, and it is the level the rest of the ladder is measured against.

Titan wall

The dominant level on the board — the same strike the Titan tag sits on. It tends to act as a magnet once price is inside it and as a barrier at first contact.

Ceiling

The nearest level above the close that carries real size. It is where an advance meets the first real obstacle, not a target.

Floor

The nearest level below the close that carries real size. It is where a decline meets the first real support, not a prediction that price holds.

Real size

A reading of at least 15% of the dominant level on that ladder. Below it the board is texture rather than structure, and a strike that small is not called a floor or a ceiling on this page. Where nothing on a side clears it inside the reach band, the largest reading in reach is named and said to be under the gate.

Outer walls

The largest readings anywhere above and below the close, at any distance. They say how far the board reaches, which is a real question and not the first sentence of the page — a wall six expected moves away is not a floor.

Æther reading

What has actually traded through the session, strike by strike. It moves during the day because the tape moves.

Traditional reading

The open-interest read: the standing book priced against the classic dealer convention. It is the same public math every exposure tool in the category shows, and it is genuinely useful — it describes where the book has settled, not what traded today. It publishes levels rather than a strike-by-strike ladder, which is why the field draws one lane and the comparison board carries both.

When the two agree

Two independent reads landing on the same strike is conviction. When they disagree, the gap is the settled book sitting next to the moving one — that is information, not an error.

Long-gamma and short-gamma

Two states the book can be in. In long-gamma, hedging tends to absorb movement; in short-gamma it tends to extend it. The label describes the book as it stands, not what price will do.

Market tide

Call premium minus put premium across the whole tape, read on a five-level scale: calls dominant, calls leading, balanced, puts leading, puts dominant.

Colour

Orange is a positive reading, blue is a negative one, everywhere on this page. Colour carries the sign and nothing else — never the size, never which side of the close a strike sits on, never which reading it came from.

Gold

Gold marks the Titan and nothing else. It does not mean positive: a negative reading can carry a gold tag, and it is still drawn in blue.

A dash

A dash means the measurement did not run or did not resolve. A zero means it ran and the answer was zero. They are never interchanged on this page.

This page is one snapshot. The board moves all day.

The terminal carries both readings on every strike, on every name you follow, and says when a level is tapped, crossed, or changes hands.

What each one opens. The Ladder opens on the live board, not on this issue: it shows SPX as it reads now, not the snapshot this page was built from, and the application cannot reproduce a past session. The expiry this issue read is Sep 18. SPX needs Pro; AAPL is free forever, with no card.
